BARN / Bainbridge Artisan Resource Network
Bainbridge Artisan Resource Network (BARN) took shape as a group of community members came together with a goal of finding a home for makers and artisans. They started with a simple website that suited their initial small facility. As BARN grew into their “dream facility”, we partnered with Joy Rubin Creative and the BARN team to build a website that matched the scale of their new space. Meeting the robust needs of both staff and community members was no small task! The website highlights the offerings of their 10 community studios, integrates seamlessly with BARN’s third-party course registration platform, and enables users to make donations.
Course RSS Feed
One of the most crucial features of the new website was integrating seamlessly with BARN’s third-party course registration software, xCatalyst. Pulling course data continuously from an RSS feed ensures visitors always see the most up-to-date class offerings. Additionally, we developed custom code that allows BARN to easily showcase courses across the website based on various parameters—drill down by studio, select different display styles, and sort by start and end dates—allowing them to customize the website course content quickly and easily.
Custom Content Areas
BARN generates a wealth of content, much of it tailored to the individual studios. To keep things streamlined and user-friendly on both the front and back ends of the site, we utilized WordPress’s “Custom Post Types” feature. This enabled us to create dedicated content areas for Resources, FAQs, Podcasts, and Blog posts, making the backend easy to manage by their internal team, while ensuring that fresh content flows effortlessly into the right studio sections on the front end.
